Tasting Glass · iOS App
This Privacy Policy describes how Tasting Glass ("the app"), developed by Hans Olsson ("I", "me"), handles your information. Please read it carefully before using the app.
The short version: Tasting Glass does not collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads. Your data stays on your device — or, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your own personal iCloud, which I cannot access.

Tasting Glass does not collect any personal information. The app does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal details to use it.
All data you create within the app — your ratings, tasting notes, wishlist, favourites, scanned bottles, and any photos you add — belongs to you and is never sent to me or to any server I operate.

App data is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms. This includes:
This data is removed if you uninstall the app (unless you have iCloud Sync turned on — see below). You can also export your collection as a CSV file at any time; exported files go only where you choose to save or share them.

If you unlock Spirits Pro and turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your collection is stored in the private iCloud database attached to your own Apple Account so it can sync across your devices and survive reinstalling the app.
This data is transferred and stored using Apple's CloudKit service, encrypted in transit. It is accessible only to you: I have no ability to read, access, or share anything in your private iCloud database. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You can turn iCloud Sync off at any time in the app's Settings, and you can remove the app's iCloud data via iOS Settings → your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

When you scan a bottle's barcode and it isn't already in your catalogue, the app sends the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a non-profit open product database, to identify the product. Only the barcode number is sent — no personal information, no account identifier, and nothing about your collection accompanies the request.
Label scanning (reading text on a bottle) happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device vision frameworks; label images and text are never uploaded anywhere.
The app also loads spirit images in the built-in catalogue from the internet, like a web browser loading pictures on a page.

The Spirits Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see or store your payment details. Apple provides the app with only an anonymous confirmation that the purchase was made.

Each spirit in the app can show a "Where to Buy" button. Tapping it opens a store's website in your browser — either a search on the store you chose in the app's Settings, or a product link you saved on that spirit yourself. The app sends nothing along with this: no personal information, no identifier, and nothing about your collection. It is the same as typing the search into your browser yourself.
Links to some retailers may include an affiliate code, which means I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. The code identifies the app as the referrer; it does not identify you and carries no data about you.
Once a store's website opens in your browser, that site's own privacy policy and cookie practices apply. Affiliate networks (such as Awin, which handles some retailers' programmes) may set a cookie in your browser to attribute the referral; this happens on their site under their policies, not inside the app.

Tasting Glass does not use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies. Your usage of the app is not monitored or recorded in any way.

The app requests camera access if you use the bottle scanner or take a photo of a spirit, and photo library access if you choose to pick an existing image. This access is used solely for those features. Photos you add are stored on your device (and in your private iCloud if sync is on) and are never uploaded or shared externally by the app.
You can revoke camera or photo library access at any time via iOS Settings.

Tasting Glass is intended for adults of legal drinking age. The app is not directed at or intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. I do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18.

If this Privacy Policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
